Member of Commission III of the DPR RI from the Democratic Faction, Benny K Harman, proposed that the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit be temporarily disabled from his position. The temporary dismissal of the number one person in the Haraangkara corps is related to the case of Inspector General Ferdy Sambo being the mastermind of the premeditated murder of Brigadier J or Yosua Hutabarat.
Benny reasoned that the deactivation of the National Police Chief had to be done because the National Police Headquarters had lied to the public through an official statement at the beginning of the findings of the case of Brigadier J.
At the beginning of the report on Brigadier J's death, the National Police through the Public Relations Division explained to the public that a shootout occurred between Brigadier J and Bharada E.
In fact, it was stated that the shooting occurred starting with a case of harassment against Ferdy Sambo's wife at the official home of the former Head of the Propam Police Division.
Benny's remarks were made during a hearing between Commission III and the Head of Kompolnas Mahfud MD.
"We don't trust the police. The police gave our information to the public, our public was also deceived, right, we were lied to. Because we only read through Pak Mahfud's social media and the official statement from headquarters we responded was wrong," said Benny on Monday ( 22/8/2022).
Therefore, Bebby suggested for the time being the task and position of the National Police Chief to be taken over by Mahfud MD as Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs.
"So, the public was lied to by the police, so the Chief of Police should be temporarily dismissed and taken over by the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs to handle this case so that it is objective and transparent," he added.
