The Indonesian National Army's Army Public Relations Chief (Kadispenad) Brigadier General Kristomei Sianturi stated that they are still searching for the cause of the explosion at the Artillery Medium (Armed) ammunition warehouse in the Gunung Putri area, Bogor Regency, on Saturday night (30/3/2024).
"So, we ask for patience. We cannot yet convey what losses we have suffered or the cause of this fire. We are still investigating further," said Kristomei to reporters.
While investigating the cause of the fire, Kristomei said they are currently focusing on the process of evacuating residents around the ammunition warehouse.
"For now, we have evacuated residents around the area in coordination with the village head, neighborhood officials, local military personnel, coordinating with the fire department and relevant agencies to help evacuate residents to a safe place," he said.
The fire and explosion occurred at the Ammunition Warehouse owned by Kodam Jaya located in Kampung Parung Pinang RT 01 RW 11 Dusun 06 Desa Ciangsana, Bogor Regency.
Kristomei mentioned that the explosion occurred around 18:30 local time on Saturday (30/3/2024) evening.
As of 20:00 local time, the TNI, assisted by several relevant agencies, still faced difficulties in approaching the fire site as the fire was still raging.
