Deputy Chairperson of the Gerindra Party's DPP Board of Trustees, Desmond Junaidi Mahesa, said he was surprised to hear that PDI-P DPP chairman Puan Maharani took to the field on a political safari to meet a number of parties. Moreover, Puan wants to visit the General Chairperson of the Gerindra Party DPP Prabowo Subianto in the near future.
"If this is a good intention, we are also a bit surprised and strange that a woman wants to visit another place, usually she is the one being visited," said Desmond at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday (30/8/2022).
Even so, he considers the safari carried out by Puan is still welcomed positively. This, he said, was a goodwill for the 2024 presidential election.
"Yes, maybe the sounding is in the context of good intentions in 2024, we just look at it positively," he said.
Furthermore, he said that Gerindra and PDIP had the opportunity to be together for the 2024 General Election or Presidential Election. However, according to him, the coalition agreement could not be done just like that. According to him, everything needs a process.
"The possibility of cooperation is very large," he said.
"With PKB, it will take a long time, the assessment will take a long time, until the agreement is not instantaneous," he continued.
Puan-Prabowo meeting
It is known, Puan Maharani is scheduled to meet Gerindra General Chair Prabowo Subianto next week. The meeting is planned to take place at Prabowo's residence in Hambalang, Bogor, West Java.
PDIP DPP chairman Said Abdullah said that it was Puan who would visit Prabowo.
